The long journey to the Edge of the World begins.... |
Even Habeas Corpus makes the trek, riding in Monk's saddle bag. |
Finally, Don José signals they've arrived.
The Edge of the World |
Don José: "Here it is, the Edge of the Eorld. Below, in the Valley of the Vanished, live the Quetzamals. There is no way down. And now adios, amigos. I must return." |
Doc: "There must be a way down. My father found it." |
Renny: "Well, let's look for it." |
Johnny notices something: "Doc! These rocks." |
Johnny: "Unordinary divarication." |
Doc pulls a out a viewer and scans the rocks.
| |
Doc: "It's a message... From my father. La-too-ah... Spin-oh-sa. Latua Spinosa."
Ham: "Who's he?"
Monk: "He ain't a he. It's an it, Harvard man. A rare semi-tropical bush, see?"
They spot the plant in question. |
Behind it, a passage. |
Doc: "Gentlemen, my father was right! Bring the horses."
They begin the perilous journey down the cliffside. |
When they reach the bottom, they see the natives being worked like slaves by Captain Seas's men. |
Johnny: "Jumping Jupiter, what a phenomenosity! It's gold. A pool of gold." |
Doc leaves his men to do a little scouting on his own. |
They are quickly found by Seas's men and captured. |
They find out there's another prisoner.
Mona: "I followed you. I wanted to be with.... I'm sorry." |
Seas: "My compliments, gentlemen. You have eluded me at every turn. You have even managed to find the pool of gold, but this time, there is no escape." |
Ham: "Mr. Seas... As the representative of Clark Savage Jr., I must vehemently protest in his absence and warn you that your actions are contradictory to the existing laws of the united states, as well as the Republic of Hidalgo. You are not only trespassing on my client's legal property, duly registered with the land recorder's office of Hidalgo, but you are also unlawfully exploiting his inheritance, as well as the labor of the natives of this tribe." |
Seas smacks Ham. "This is the law here, Harvard man! The law of the jungle."
Monk explodes and head-butts Seas. |
When Seas regains his feet, he orders Kulkan to get rid of Doc's men. |
Kulkan: "I will prepare the potion."
Chief Chaac: "No, Kulkan. The Green Death is a heritage from our ancestors, only to defend ourselves against our enemies. It has not been used for hundreds of years."
Kulkan: "You do not understand. Captain Seas is our friend. His enemies are our enemies."
Chaac: "You are deserting your own people. You are joining with strangers who have taken away our freedom." |
Seas orders Chaac taken prisoner with the rest.
But the events do not go unobserved. |
Kulkan begins the preparation... |
...as Doc's men, Mona and the chief are led into a cave. |
Ham thanks Monk for decking Seas, even though he could've been killed. They find out that Chief Chaac speaks english so well because Doc's father taught him.
The Green Death is prepared using snakes kept in a pit. |
A nice specimen is picked. |
Renny: "This place gives me the heebie-jeebies. We got to bust out of here."
Johnny: "An unconfuted veracity, but how, may i ask, with our hands tied behind our backs and locked in this-- that's it!"
Renny and Johnny get back-to-back in an effort to untie each other. Johnny: "An unravelable configuration of knots." |
Monk: "Hey! Hey, wait a minute! I got a idea! Habeas corpus! Sorry, Ham. I know you don't like that name."
Ham: "Oh, that's all right... Pal." |
Monk:"H.C., You still in my pocket?"
Habeas: "Oink!"
Monk: "Well, get out and do that trick I taught you." |
Seas: "They're finished, just like that old professor and that liar of a pilot."
Goro: "And we have the papers, the deed, and the pool of gold."
Seas: "Right. Now only Savage remains." |
Habeas goes to work on the ropes... |
...as Kulkan lets the Green Death loose in the cave. |
